Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Catalog Properties

Several settings on the Properties page assign the feature type to categories that determine how the feature type is grouped and displayed in Bentley OpenUtilities Designer and on the GIS map.

Settings Description

Placeable

Indicates that the feature type will appear in Bentley OpenUtilities Designer's Feature Catalog (a list of objects that can be placed on the GIS map).

Displayable

Indicates that the feature type will be listed in Bentley OpenUtilities Designer's Design Workspace when placed. By default, this setting is selected when a new feature type is created.

Design Only

Indicates that the feature type will be listed in the Design Workspace (if it has been defined as Displayable) but will not appear on the GIS map. This setting is useful for feature types that are not significant in performing engineering analysis.

Structure

Designates the item as a structural feature type and assigns it to the Structures group in the Features Catalog. Structural feature types are associated with network nodes and are usually subject to network connectively constraints.

Device

Designates the item as a device feature type and assigns it to the Devices group in the Features Catalog. Device feature types play an important role in connectivity validation and network analysis.

Geometry

Indicates whether the feature type will be placed on a work point or a work span. Point features have location (a single coordinate) but no length and no area. Span features are linear objects that have length but no area. The Point setting is the default for a new feature type. Selecting the Span setting will disable the Structure and Device check boxes.

Display Tabs

Assigns the feature type to one or more commodity groups of the Features Catalog (if the feature type has been defined as Placeable). Multiple groups may be selected within the same commodity category, but categories may not be mixed. The Display Tabs items correspond to the tabs on Bentley OpenUtilities Designer's Features Catalog.
